Bright Environment Awareness Unit Trust of Youth was registered as per govt. norms in 1999 and is functioning very well. This unit centres around the Environmental cleanliness and is doing remarkable service under the leadership of Sri. S.J.Dass whose commitment for this purpose acted as the base for the organization.
From the day of It’s inception, it has done marvelous services to keep the city clean with the support of sanitary and Engineering Departments of the Madurai Corporation.Expecially during (2000-02) the Mattuthavani bus stand was cleaned and the pillars there were picked up for Trade Advertisements, the organization was suitably rewarded with a certificate.
Further from the year 2000 till now the organization has undertaken to remove 12 Tonne of garbage per day from the central vegetable Market situated at the centre of Madurai city. The underground drainage in all the zones of Madurai corporation has been cleaned from the year 2005. In addition the drinking water supply was regulated in all the 12 wards of the Madurai Corporation and the unwanted dusty send along the main road sides were removed to keep clean.
In 2006 Madurai west and north zones were protected from Malaria and Chickengunia by the eradication of mosquitos’ causcing such diseases.
In 2007-08 the channels with in the Madurai Corporation were cleaned to present stagnation of unclean water.
In 2007 a photograph depicting the plan of its maintenance was sent to Madurai Corporation. It was examined by the corporation officials and with the grant and approval of central govt. our organization is joinly during the cleaning of Kirudhumal River under the Jawaharlal National Plan.
In 2008, during raining season, the water hyacinth plants in the Vaigai river bed were removed by our organization with no assistance from the corporation to enable free flow of water. In 2006 our organization planted tree saplings in the sides of the main roads with the approval of Madurai Corporation. In change of heets into concrete houses under Jawaharlal Nehru Plan is being made known to all the economically backward class.
Our organization will continue to execute all measures to preserve the cleanliness of the city and create a clean and pure Madurai city.
